Stress Effects the Body?

"You better believe it does!"
Stress effects the body, not just the mind, in more ways than you might first imagine ...
The idea that stress management is essentially a psychological issue, an exercise in the "power of positive thinking", is complete and utter B.S.
Stress is fundamentally rooted in the body.
If you want to see how stressed out someone really is, you look to their body.
Think about it ... close your eyes and put yourself back in a place and time where you were totally stressed-out. For some of you reading this, you might not even need to do that - just take stock of how you feel right now!
Feel the muscles in your neck and back tense and knot in response to the stress ...
Feel your heart beat a bit faster, your breathing rise up in your chest and accelerate, long deep breaths shifting to short shallow ones ...
Notice your posture shift slightly as your shoulders hunch and your neck shortens - all basic movements made by primates in response to a threat ...
Feel the tingle on your skin as the your hairs raise slightly in response to the little shot of adrenaline summoned by your endocrine system and now pumping through your veins ...
See what I mean?
Stress effects the body - even the imaginary kind!
Now try to imagine the cumulative effect of this happening chronically, over and over again, day in and day out in response to all the little stressors in your life. What do you think that does to your body over time?
Stress effects your body - and the effects are cumulative. You can take one look at a person and see it ... how many times have you glanced at a friend and said or thought to yourself: "Wow buddy, you look like you need a drink!"
But you know what your friend really needs? He needs to learn that just as stress effects the body, the body effects the way we experience stress.
You can change the way your body responds to stress through the various stress management techniques I teach here.
