Looking for Anxiety and Depression Chat Rooms?

Anxiety and Depression Chat Rooms

"Why talking about stress may be doing you more harm than good ..."

Have you visited any of these anxiety and depression chat rooms or forums lately?

Let me confide a secret in you: I avoid those places like the plague!

I never visit them if I can help it.

Why?

There’s a laundry list of reasons, but I’ll give you the most important one: it’s all just talk.

Talk, talk, talk!

What’s wrong with talk?

Look, venting about your problems to others can be a helpful way to release pent-up tension. No one would disagree with that.

But hanging around posting in an anxiety and depression chat room all day is just not helpful.

Why?

Most modern treatments for stress-related injuries like anxiety, depression, and anger disorder are rooted in the context of psychiatric talk therapy.

We're conditioned to think that by "talking it out" we can get to the bottom of our problem.

The truth is that talk therapy simply cannot deal with the root biological, physiological causes of stress.

You can’t talk away stress.

No matter how big your words are or how many of them you use.

When you're done flapping your gums, it will be there waiting for you!

These anxiety and depression chat rooms and forums are artificial environments which encourage this kind of self-indulgent, circular talk in which nothing is ever really accomplished.

Sure, you might feel better for a while after firing off a post about what a bad day you’re having. But then what?

Have any of the root causes of your stress been genuinely addressed? Of course not.

But what do you do? You remember that fleeting feeling of relief and keep going back to the chat room. You spend more and more time posting and reading other people’s posts, looking for some tidbit of wisdom that might help.

It's practically addictive.

All that time spent talking in circle in the chat room is time you could have spent practicing HARDCORE STRESS MANAGEMENT™ and actually making some progress!

Look, if you want to talk, talk to a friend. In person or on the phone. It's a thousand times better than any chat room or forum.

But if you really want my advice, don’t waste your time talking. Start doing!

Don't know where to start?

Start right here.
